Who will finish in the top three of the Greek Super League 2022/2023: preview

Published

on

The current regular season of the Greek Football Super League started in mid-September 2022 and will end in March 2023. At the end of the regular season, the first six teams from the standings will enter the champion group, in which they will play for the champion title and prizes. In total, 14 clubs take part in the Greek elite football division.

The four main medal contenders are as follows: Panathinaikos, AEK, PAOK and Olympiacos. Having analyzed each of the teams in detail, you can come to a more accurate conclusion, who has a better chance of getting into the top three.

Panathinaikos

The Clevers have had an excellent 2022 year without suffering a single defeat in the championship. But in 2023, Panathinaikos began to slow down, as a result of which the gap from the second AEK by the end of January was reduced to one test point. After a minimal away victory over Levadiakos, the guys of Ivan Jovanovic lost to the “two-headed eagles” at Spiros Luis. Then the Athenian team turned out to be stronger than Giannina, but was devastatingly defeated at home by PAOK with a score of 0:3. As a result, Dimitris Kurbelis and company can fly past the 21st league title in the team’s history. On the other hand, the brainchild of Giannis Alafouzos and Sortivo International Ltd does not compete in the international arena and may tune in to further Super League battles.

The last time the “clover” got the gold medals of the domestic championship 13 years ago. The Greens have a strong squad, but if Panathinaikos continues to lose points, just like in January, it will be difficult to get the championship. At the same time, the club from Athens will finish in the top three with a high probability. If you want to bet on who will be higher in the Greek elite football championship, we recommend betting on this at Mostbet online.

AEK

The Yellow-Blacks began to improve in 2023 and reduced the gap from the championship leader Panathinaikos to one point. In the first January game, the “two-headed eagles” somewhat unexpectedly lost away to Giannina. However, then the wards of Matias Almeida defeated Panathinaikos, Panetolikos and Ionikos in turn. In total, by the 19th round, AEK won 14 victories, with several draws and 3 defeats. It should also be noted that seven rounds before the end of the regular season, the “union” had the strongest attack and defense in the league.

The Athens “two-headed eagles” have a good squad and a competitive bench, which strengthens the team at a distance. Periodic misfires happen with AEK, but if the “yellow-blacks” become less likely to lose away games, then it is quite possible to aim at the champion title. In addition, the brainchild of Dimitris Melissanidis is five points ahead of third PAOK and fourth Olympiacos. So at least the “bronze” “union” must win.

PAOK

The Black-and-Whites had a disgusting start in the 10 rounds of the championship, losing points in six matches during this time. However, after that, the club from Thessaloniki did not suffer a single defeat in the championship and the Greek Cup. In four opening matches of the January segment, the “two-headed eagles of the North” got 10 points out of 12 possible. Having beaten Aris, Lamia and Panathinaikos, the brainchild of Ivan Savvidi painted the world with OFI. In all these confrontations, the team of Razvan Lucescu did not miss a single goal.

PAOK is in good shape and is able to improve further. At the beginning of the championship, “black and white” lost a lot of points and it is unlikely that Ivan Savvidi’s brainchild should count on the championship. But the “two-headed eagles of the North” may well try to win silver medals.

Olympiacos

“Legend” is not having the best season, but continues to fight for the title. By the 19th round, Olympiacos was six points behind the first Panathinaikos. Winning back such a number of credits is possible, but quite difficult. Still, the periodic “red-whites” stumble in battles with not particularly formidable opponents. At the same time, in terms of team play, the brainchild of Evangelos Marinakis looks good.

Olympiacos started January 2023 with clean sheets over Ionikos, Volos and Aris. Then the “legend” somewhat unexpectedly drew on the road with Atromitos. If not for this misfire, the Red-Whites would have outstripped PAOK. Nevertheless, Michel’s wards still have chances for medals.

Our forecast

Panathinaikos slowed down, while AEK, on the contrary, gained momentum. If everything goes according to the same scenario, then the “yellow-blacks” should get the “gold”, and the “clovers” will most likely remain in the top three. PAOK and Olympiacos are battling for third place, but with luck, they could be higher. In game terms, the “black and white” looks better than the “red and white”, so the “two-headed eagles of the North” are likely to be located higher.
