Chennai, June 26: #JusticeforJayarajAndFenix trended on social media as netizens equipped on Friday to demand justice for a father-son duo who had been killed in Tuticorin after being taken into police custody. The deceased, recognized as 59-year-old Jayaraj and his 31-year-old J Bennic, had been brutally crushed up by the cops after being arrested for violating lockdown. The custodial dying sparked a wave of anger throughout Tamil Nadu, with the Opposition DMK demanding accountability from the ruling AIADMK. Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami expressed sorrow over the custodial deaths and in addition pronounces Rs 20 lakh compensation to the bereaved household.
Jayaraj and Bennic had been arrested in June 19, after they allegedly violated the lockdown by protecting their cellular store open past the permissible time. After arrest, they had been reportedly crushed up.
After their situation deteriorated, the father-son had been rushed to the federal government medical facility. Jayaraj died on June 22, whereas, his son succumbed to the accidents on June 23.

AIADMK Pronounces Rs 25 Lakh Compensation
Tamil Nadu: An ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakhs has been introduced by All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) to the household whose two members allegedly died in police custody in Tuticorin. The daddy and his son had been arrested for allegedly violating lockdown norms on June 19.

The AIADMK celebration has introduced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the deceased household, other than the Rs 20 lakh introduced by the federal government. DMK MP Kanimozhi, on behalf of her celebration, handed a cheque of Rs 20 lakh to the bereaved household.
