BCA president Rakesh Tiwari sees Moin-ul-Haq Stadium lease as major turning point in Bihar cricket

The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) president Rakesh Tiwari believes that securing the rights for Moin-ul-Haq Stadium on a long-term lease from the state government could be a game-changer for Bihar cricket. The stadium, which has been the home ground for the Bihar cricket team since 1969, has now been acquired by the BCA.

Tiwari expressed his excitement over this development, stating, “This is a dream come true for us. Since the bifurcation of Bihar state in 2000, the main infrastructure went to the Jharkhand Cricket Association. Only Moin-ul-Haq stadium was with us and that too was under the Bihar government.” He highlighted the challenges faced by Bihar cricket due to the state’s bifurcation.

Initially built for football, Moin-ul-Haq Stadium has been used by schools for various events. However, after 2018, it was allotted to the BCA for cricket activities on a priority basis. Tiwari mentioned, “We used to pay rent for it about INR 50k.” The BCA now plans to revamp the infrastructure and facilities to create a world-class cricket complex at the stadium.

Despite the obstacles faced, the BCA president and his team remained determined. Tiwari emphasized, “Our hard work finally resulted in getting the Moin-ul-Haq stadium on a long-term lease by the Bihar government. And now we plan to make a world-class cricket complex here. I feel this could be the turning point for Bihar cricket.” The stadium’s acquisition marks a significant step forward for Bihar cricket and sets the stage for further development.
