France raises terror alert to highest level following Moscow attack

The French government raised the national security alert system Vigipirate to the highest level following the deadly terrorist attack in Moscow on Friday. French President Macron held a defense and security meeting after the incident, as reported by Prime Minister Attal on social media.

“In light of ISIS’s alleged attack and the threat to our country, we have decided to elevate the Vigipirate status to the highest level: attack emergency,” Attal stated. The attack in Moscow resulted in the tragic loss of at least 137 lives at a concert hall, prompting Russian President Putin to declare a day of national mourning on March 24.

The decision to upgrade the security alert system comes as a precaution to deal with the potential threat faced by France in the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Moscow. The move aims to enhance security measures and readiness to prevent and respond to any similar incidents that pose a danger to the nation’s safety and well-being. French authorities are taking necessary steps to address the heightened security concerns and ensure the protection of citizens from potential risks.

The elevated Vigipirate status signifies the seriousness of the situation and the need for heightened vigilance and preparedness in the face of evolving security threats. The decision reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding the nation against potential acts of terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of its people. The French authorities remain alert and proactive in addressing security challenges to maintain peace and stability in the country amidst the growing concerns of global terrorism.
