Intoxicated man assaults three doctors during medical examination at Delhi hospital

New Delhi, March 21 (IANS) Three doctors, including the CMO, of Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital in northwest Delhi were attacked by a 25-year-old man who was brought to the hospital in an inebriated state by the police for a medical examination. According to the FIR accessed by IANS, the incident occurred on March 15 at 1:12 a.m.

The FIR revealed that the man, identified as Rahul, started misbehaving, abusing, and assaulting Dr. Shivaratan, Dr. Chinmey, and CMO Dr. Kshetrimayun Shanta Singh during the medical examination. The CMO stated in the FIR, “He tore Dr. Shivaratan’s shirt, threatened him, and injured him. He also physically assaulted Dr. Chinmey, injuring him, and misbehaved with the staff on duty.”

Furthermore, the man damaged hospital property, including the doctor’s room table and chair, the BP machine, the MLC register, and other hospital documents, causing disruption to emergency and casualty services for more than two hours. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Jitender Mani confirmed the incident and mentioned that the accused, Rahul, has been arrested.

The police have registered an FIR under Sections 186, 353, and 332 of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 4 of the Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions Act at Jahangirpuri police station in connection with the attack on the doctors. The motive behind the attack remains unclear as investigations continue into the matter.
