The ATOMEXPO 2024, a global nuclear power conference-cum-exhibition organized in Sochi by Rosatom, saw experts from various countries discussing environmental technologies for improving human life and the environment. Rosatom’s Kirill Komarov emphasized the importance of innovative environmental technologies for achieving carbon neutrality.
He highlighted energy transition to green energy, storage systems, and waste management as crucial business opportunities. Svetlana Radionova, Head of Russia’s Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources, stressed the importance of fulfilling obligations under international conventions like the Stockholm and Basel Conventions. She supported Russia’s proposal to harmonize deadlines for waste movement under the Basel Convention.
Brazil’s Vice Minister for Urban Environment Adalberto Maluf stressed the importance of exchanging experiences and forming partnerships for developing new environmental technologies. Participants emphasized the need for international partnership dialogue to consolidate efforts in using advanced environmental technologies and decarbonizing the economy.
The discussions at ATOMEXPO 2024 focused on creating a technology foundation using national environmental solutions to improve living standards globally.
