Pravin Amre praises McGurk’s x-factor in IPL 2024

Lucknow, April 13 (IANS) – Delhi Capitals assistant coach, Pravin Amre, commended Jake Fraser-McGurk’s outstanding half-century on his IPL debut as DC defeated Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets. Fraser-McGurk, the third youngest overseas batter to score a half-century in IPL history, played a key role in the victory by helping his team chase down the target of 168 runs with 11 balls to spare.

Amre praised Fraser-McGurk’s explosive batting, stating, “He had the x-factor, he had that ability to strike the sixes. If you see his innings, he got five sixes…He delivered.” He highlighted the importance of showcasing talent in matches, emphasizing that Fraser-McGurk seized his opportunity and made a significant impact for the team in a crucial match.

Fraser-McGurk’s innings of 55 off 35 deliveries was crucial for DC, but Amre also acknowledged the stellar performance of Kuldeep Yadav, who was awarded the Player of the Match for his match-winning bowling. Amre credited Yadav for his crucial wickets, restricting LSG’s run surge and controlling the game along with Axar Patel in the middle overs.

Yadav, who missed the Capitals’ last three matches due to injury, made a strong comeback by dismissing key LSG batters like Stoinis and Pooran. His impactful bowling performance helped DC maintain control over the game and secure a crucial victory over the hosts. Additionally, Shreyas Iyer’s 55-ball fifty boosted LSG’s total, but they fell short by 20 runs according to Rajat Badoni.

Badoni expressed his gratitude to Rahul and Langer for backing him and giving him a chance to make an impact with the bat. He shared his approach to the innings, aiming to take it deep and accelerate towards the end, ultimately helping LSG post a competitive total. Despite his efforts, LSG fell short as DC’s spin department played a key role in controlling the game and securing the victory.

Overall, DC’s strong performances by Fraser-McGurk, Yadav, and others led to a convincing win over LSG. The match showcased talent, determination, and strategic play from both teams, making it an exciting encounter for IPL fans. With this victory, DC continues to maintain their strong position in the ongoing IPL season, showcasing their potential for a successful campaign.
