Punjab's Chief Town Planner, coloniser Bajwa Developers booked
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has registered a case against Jarnail Singh Bajwa, director of Bajwa Developers Ltd, along with state Chief Town Planner Pankaj Bawa and retired revenue patwari Lekh Raj for illegally passing housing projects. Investigations revealed various irregularities in the approval process of projects.
During the investigation, it was found that Bajwa Developers Ltd had obtained approval for residential and commercial projects in Mohali district without fulfilling the required conditions set by the empowered committee in 2013. The developer had also failed to deposit the necessary funds for the cancer relief fund, as mandated by the government.
Furthermore, the developers had managed to secure approval for a residential mega project in Sunny Enclave without completing the necessary land registrations, and had exploited loopholes in the system to bypass regulations. It was also discovered that mutation of land had been wrongly registered, indicating collusion between officials and developers.
In a blatant display of corruption, it was revealed that Bajwa Developers had constructed commercial booths without proper approvals, resulting in significant financial losses. The case highlights systematic failures within the approval process and raises questions about the integrity of government officials involved in the collusion.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau’s actions against Jarnail Singh Bajwa and other officials send a strong message against corruption in the real estate sector. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency and accountability in the approval of housing projects, to prevent exploitation and financial losses for both the government and the public.
