Actress Richa Chadha Emphasizes Importance of Theatre on World Theatre Day

Mumbai, March 27 (IANS) – Actress Richa Chadha celebrated World Theatre Day by highlighting the significance of theatre in her life. She expressed how theatre has enriched her as a performer and encouraged others to value it as an independent art form.

In an interview with IANS, Richa shared, “The reason you feel alive when you perform is because you have some kind of theatre experience. I would really recommend that people treat theatre as an end in itself and not as a stepping stone to films because the journey of theatre is very rewarding.”

She emphasized the gratifying experience of working on a play for months and constantly improving it. Richa stated, “I have found that whenever I have done a play I have come alive as a performer and I feel warmed and charged up, and it is after all an actor’s medium. So, I owe a lot to theatre and I hope I can give back as well.”

On the professional front, Richa will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming web-series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’. The series features a talented cast including Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, and Sanjeeda Sheikh.

‘Heeramandi’ delves into the cultural reality of a district by narrating the stories of courtesans and their patrons amidst the backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle in the 1940s. Richa’s involvement in the series showcases her versatility as an actor and her commitment to portraying complex narratives on screen.

This World Theatre Day, Richa Chadha’s reflections on the transformative power of theatre serve as a reminder of the artistic fulfillment and growth that this art form can offer to performers and audiences alike. Her dedication to theatre as an essential part of her creative journey sets an inspiring example for aspiring artists in the industry.
