Shillong Teer is a wonderful game of chance that combines the skill of archery with lotteries and increases the level of excitement manyfold. Not many people in the country are aware of these events which is a very common occurrence in the North East. While lotteries are banned in most states, it is widely played in the North Eastern states also known as the seven sister states. Meghalaya State government organizes several Teer events and Shillong Teer is one of them.
The Shillong Teer event is held in the evening hours at the Polo ground in Shillong and the winner of the event is decided by predicting the correct number of arrows that have been shot by a group of fifty archers in two phases. The tickets for both phases of the Teer event are available for sale all through the day till 3.30 p.m.

At 03.30 p.m. fifty archers gather at the Polo grounds to participate in the archery event. Each archer has to pay INR 300 to participate in the event. The archers shoot thirty arrows in the first phase and twenty arrows in the second phase. The archers have to shoot the arrows within two minutes.
