Toll Plazas Within 60 Km of Each Other Will Be Closed Within Next 3 Months: Transport Minister Gadkari

In a major announcement Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways said that all toll plazas within 60 kilometers of each other will be closed down in the next three months. This move is expected to benefit lakhs of local residents who have been facing difficulties due to long queues and delays at the toll plazas. The minister also said that people who have Aadhaar cards will be given passes.

Transport Minister also revised Nitin Gadkari’s men’s commitment towards the center’s objective to build an “Atmanirbhar Bharat“. He further said that by 2024, India’s road infrastructure will be at par with that of the US, leading to growth and economic growth and boosting tourism.

Minister Gadkari also replied to the discussion on Demands for Grants under the control of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for the year 2022-23. He narrated how, to reach or return from the airport, he had to pass through a traffic jam at Dhaula Kuan road.

The Union Minister also highlighted their steps towards reducing pollution and how the department is spending Rs 62,000 crore to tackle pollution in Delhi. This includes the construction of ring roads and other roads outside the city.

Nitin Gadkari said that road connectivity has improved a lot. Now it only takes 40 minutes to travel from Delhi to Meerut compared to earlier 4 hours.
