Troubles escalate for INDIA bloc in Bihar as Bima Bharti and Pappu Yadav remain determined to contest from Purnea

In a recent development, RJD’s Bima Bharti and Congress’ Pappu Yadav are both vying to contest the Lok Sabha election from Bihar’s Purnea constituency, causing a rift within the INDIA bloc alliance. Bima Bharti claims RJD has given her the ticket, while Pappu Yadav is determined to contest at all costs.

Bima Bharti, a former JD-U member, stated, “The party has given me the ticket on the same day when I joined the RJD. I will file the nomination on April 3.” She expressed gratitude towards party leaders and sought support from Pappu Yadav, referring to him as her elder brother and leader of the alliance.

Pappu Yadav, who recently merged his Jan Adhikar Party with the Congress, asserted, “I would rather die but not leave Purnea and the Congress party. I will contest from this seat as the candidate of the INDIA bloc in the Lok Sabha election.” The official candidate for the Purnea seat has yet to be announced by the RJD.

Bima Bharti, a turncoat JD-U MLA from Purnea’s Rupauli assembly constituency, is yet to resign from the legislative assembly, further complicating the situation. The stand-off between the two candidates has intensified the challenges for the INDIA bloc partners in Bihar, raising concerns about the unity of the alliance in the upcoming election.
