Weapons Cache Discovered by Troops at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza: IDF

Tel Aviv, March 26 (IANS) – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have discovered a cache of weapons at Al-Shifa Hospital’s maternity ward and MRI centre in Gaza. The troops seized Kalashnikov rifles, explosives, mortars, grenades, and assault rifles hidden among medical equipment.

The IDF stated that they also “eliminated many terrorists inside the hospital who attacked them”. The statement highlighted that Hamas was using hospitals and other civilian areas as cover for their operations, putting civilians at risk by using them as human shields.

This alarming discovery underscores the challenges faced by the IDF in dealing with terrorism in Gaza. The presence of weapons in a hospital, a supposed safe space for medical treatment and care, raises concerns about the tactics employed by militant groups in the region.

The IDF’s actions to secure the weapons and neutralize the threat posed by terrorists within the hospital demonstrate the complex and dangerous nature of the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The use of hospitals as military outposts further complicates efforts to protect civilian populations and uphold humanitarian norms in the region.
