International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer or World Ozone Day is an awareness creating day, concerns about the Ozone Layer without which life is not possible on the planet. The ozone layer is the molecule, which is found between 10KM to 50KM in the Atmosphere. The work of the Ozone layer is to protect the earth from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. If the ozone layer runs out, it is impossible for every living being to survive on the earth. The day aims to aware people of the Preservation of the Ozone layer. Every Year since 1995, International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer or World Ozone Day is celebrated on 16 September.

History and Significance
In 1985, a team of Researchers of the British Antarctic Survey found Ozone Hole over Antarctica.
After 2 years in 1987 Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was signed by 46 countries, which has now become 197. The aim of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was to Preserve the layer by reducing the production of substances that are responsible for the whole.
After, 9 years of Ozone Hole discovery, on 19 December 1994, UN General Assembly announced 16 September as World Ozone Day or International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
