Noida approves plan to put a penalty on residents who are seen dumping waste at undesignated sites

Recently, the Noida authority has approved a plan to take strict action against those who are found throwing garbage in the undesignated sites. In order to keep an eye on such sites, around 450 CCTV cameras in the city have been installed. In this way, they can catch the residents who throw waste in such areas on a regular basis. Due to rising sanitation issues, such steps are important.

The concerned officials also stated anyone caught doing such activity, they will be fined between ₹5,000 to ₹1 lakh or even bigger. Fine will be decided depending on the size of the waste. In some cases, if anyone or any company is caught doing it multiple times then the penalty will be increased as per the Noida authority. The decision has been taken after the health department has given a green light to the plan.

“Identifying offenders often becomes difficult because they throw garbage during the night time. Therefore, the health department has decided to take the help of CCTV cameras to check the menace,” said SP Singh, deputy general manager, of Noida authority.

Areas, where waste has been found in bigger volume have been identified by the authority. These locations are sectors 22,12,137, Mamura, and Harola to name a few places. Plus, the Noida department is also planning to install more CCTV cameras by next month. They have set up a control room in Sector 94, though they will keep an eye on areas and see who dumps the waste.

“If the authority wants Noida to fare even better in the annual cleanliness ranking, it must encourage more public participation. It needs to organise awareness camps so that people cooperate with the health department to make the city clean,” said Ranjan Tomar, president, Noida villagers’ welfare association.
