A viral video on social media shows the sitting BJP MLA, Ganapat Gaikwad, firing at a Shiv Sena leader at a police station. The Shiva Sena leader, Mahesh Gaikwad, belongs to the Shinde faction of the party, which is also part of the current BJP-Shiva Sena ruling alliance.
The incident originated from a land dispute between BJP MLA Ganapat Gaikwad and Shiva Sena leader Mahesh Gaikwad in Thane district. The CCTV footage capturing the entire incident has gone viral on various social media platforms.

The viral CCTV video footage clearly depicts the BJP MLA firing indiscriminately at the Shiv Sena leader. It shows the BJP MLA drawing a pistol, prompting everyone present to flee for their lives. The CCTV footage also shows the BJP MLA continuously firing at the Shiv Sena leader.
What is surprising is that this shooting incident occurred within a police station, in full view of the on-duty police officials. Reports indicate that both Ganapat Gaikwad and Mahesh Gaikwad were in the police station attempting to resolve their land dispute when the incident took place. The Shiv Sena leader sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Jupiter Hospital in Thane, where he was reported to be in critical condition. The police have subsequently arrested BJP MLA Ganapat Gaikwad and three of his associates.
In response to this shocking incident, a high-level Special Investigation Team has been established to investigate the case and the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Phadnavis issued the order for the team’s formation.
The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi has strongly condemned the incident, stating that the state’s law and order system is in disarray. They have also raised questions about how a BJP MLA was able to carry a weapon into a police station and open fire in the presence of police officials. The opposition has called for the resignation of Deputy CM Devendra Phadnavis. Prominent opposition leaders, including Congress leader Vijay Wadetevir, Shiva Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, and NCP leader Supriya Sule, have all raised concerns about how the shooting could occur inside a supposedly secure location like a police station. Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has stated that he will discuss the matter with Mr. Phadnavis.
