Kerala Vigilance Court agrees to hear Congress MLA’s petition against CM Vijayan and his daughter
The Thiruvananthapuram Vigilance Court has accepted a petition filed by Congress legislator Mathew Kuzhalnadan against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his daughter Veena for alleged corruption. The petition seeks a probe into the misuse of power by CM Vijayan in favor of a mining firm and illegal gratification for Veena’s IT company.
Kuzhalnadan’s petition alleges that CM Vijayan violated land reform rules to benefit the Kochi-based mining firm CMRL, ultimately aiding Veena’s company Exalogic. The Kerala government opposed the petition, but the court dismissed the arguments and accepted it. The Vigilance Director has been instructed to submit a report, with the case scheduled for further hearing on March 14.
Previously, Kuzhalnadan had written to the state Finance Minister about an Income Tax Department report revealing that Exalogic had received Rs 1.72 crore from CMRL. This latest development follows the Karnataka High Court’s decision not to halt the Serious Fraud Investigation Office probe into Veena’s firm last week.
