Inauguration of Toll-free North-South Arm of Mumbai Coastal Road

Mumbai Coastal Road’s Phase One North-South Arm Inaugurated

Mumbai’s Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated the first phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road project, connecting Worli-Marine Lines. The toll-free road, constructed by BMC, includes a twin-tunnel and is expected to be completed by May 2024, cutting commute time drastically.

Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar, and other dignitaries were present as the south-bound lane of the Mumbai Coastal Road was thrown open for regular traffic from tomorrow. The entire phase one project will offer a toll-free ride and is anticipated to be extended further in the future, providing time and fuel savings for commuters.

The BMC has incorporated eco-friendly initiatives like gardens, green belts, parking lots, a new sea-wall, and promenade along with public amenities in the construction of the Mumbai Coastal Road. The project aims to reduce the commute time from 60 minutes to 10 minutes, enhancing connectivity in the city.
