Jammu-Srinagar highway reopens to traffic after 12-hour closure

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway reopened for traffic after being blocked for 12 hours due to multiple landslides. LMV traffic is now moving from both Srinagar and Jammu sides, with HMV traffic allowed after 1 p.m. This highway is crucial for the Valley’s supply chain, bringing essential commodities.

The 300 km-long Srinagar-Jammu highway is a lifeline for the Valley, and its reopening will ensure the uninterrupted flow of essential supplies. The closure of other snowbound roads like Srinagar-Leh highway, Mughal Road, Sinthan-Kishtwar, and Doda-Chamba has further highlighted the importance of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

The traffic department officials have informed that the HMV traffic will be allowed after 1 p.m., indicating a gradual return to normalcy on the strategic highway. The reopening of this critical route will bring relief to the residents of the Valley who depend on it for essential supplies.
