Tamilisai Soundararajan Resigns as Telangana Governor

Hyderabad, March 18 (IANS) Tamilisai Soundararajan, who resigned as Telangana Governor on Monday, expressed her gratitude to the people of Telangana for their support during her tenure. In a heartfelt message, she conveyed her fondness for the state and its residents.

Soundararajan revealed that her time as Governor was filled with happiness and that the warmth and affection shown by the people of Telangana had deeply touched her. She acknowledged the support she received and stated her intention to pursue an active political role in the state by contesting Lok Sabha elections.

Reflecting on her experiences, Soundararajan shared that working towards Telangana’s development and participating in cultural celebrations had left a lasting impact on her. She thanked the people for treating her like a sister and expressed her eternal love for the state.

The former President of BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit, Soundararajan, became the first woman Governor of Telangana in 2019 before taking on the additional role of Lt Governor of Puducherry. Her resignation was tendered with immediate effect, according to a statement from Raj Bhavan, and was submitted to President Droupadi Murmu.

Soundararajan’s departure marks the end of a chapter in her political journey, as she transitions from her gubernatorial roles to potentially engaging in electoral politics in Telangana. The impact of her resignation on the state’s political landscape remains to be seen.
