FIR registered against Union Minister in Dinhata Trinamool-BJP clash

Kolkata, March 20 (IANS) An FIR has been registered against Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nisith Pramanik and 44 BJP supporters over clashes with Trinamool Congress workers in Dinhata, Cooch Behar district. The FIR was lodged by ruling party MLA Udayan Guha.

The clashes on Tuesday night left police officer Dhiman Mitra injured, with Pramanik and Guha reportedly involved. Governor C.V. Ananda Bose is en route to Dinhata for an on-the-spot assessment after seeking a report from the DGP.

Tensions persist in Dinhata despite the Trinamool Congress calling off a 24-hour bandh. Guha challenged the Governor to find any proof of his direct involvement in the clash, stating he would resign if evidence was uncovered.

The situation remains delicate in Dinhata as the aftermath of the clash unfolds. Authorities are working to restore calm and investigate the incident to ensure accountability and justice prevail.
