Death toll surpasses 60 in Moscow terror attack (3rd update)

More than 60 people were killed in a terrorist attack at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall, with initial reports suggesting at least 40 dead and over 100 injured. The assailants, armed with assault rifles, targeted concertgoers at a rock band event before setting the building on fire.

The massacre took place on Friday evening as a concert was about to begin, resulting in chaos and devastation. The attackers, clad in body armor, indiscriminately shot fleeing civilians, lobbed hand grenades, and set the building ablaze. The toll is expected to rise, with the building’s roof reportedly collapsing.

Authorities launched a massive emergency response, deploying ambulances, heavily armed police units, and a helicopter to combat the fire. As per the latest information, the attackers have barricaded themselves inside the burning building. Russian Foreign Ministry received condolences from around the world and emphasized efforts to save the people at the site.

The US condemned the attack as a “terrible incident,” with National Security Council spokesman John Kirby expressing dismay at the horrific images. The international community has been called upon to condemn this act of terrorism. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motives behind the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.
