EAM Jaishankar meets with Singapore’s top leaders, delivers greetings from PM Modi

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited Singapore to strengthen ties between the two nations, meeting top leaders and corporate figures. He conveyed PM Modi’s greetings, discussed bilateral cooperation, and highlighted the significance of the India-Singapore relationship.

During his visit, Dr Jaishankar lauded PM Lee Hsien Loong’s positive sentiments on the bilateral relationship, emphasizing its importance in strengthening ties. He also discussed the Indo-Pacific and West Asia with Singapore’s FM Vivian Balakrishnan, focusing on advancing cooperation and marking 60 years of diplomatic relations.

The first India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) was held in 2022, initiated by PM Modi to deepen cooperation and identify new collaborative opportunities. Following its success, discussions on bilateral ties, new-age technologies, and the global economic landscape took place with DPM Lawrence Wong and FM Balakrishnan.

Concluding his visit, Dr Jaishankar met Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam, emphasizing the importance of strategic partnership. This visit follows his previous trip in October 2023, aiming to enhance cooperation with Southeast Asian nations like Malaysia and The Philippines on regional issues of mutual concern.
