Ukraine reports energy facilities damaged in Russian attacks

Kiev, March 30 (IANS) Energy infrastructure in six Ukrainian regions has been damaged by Russian missile and drone strikes, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. Power facilities in central Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Chernivtsi regions have been affected.

Shmyhal shared on social media Telegram that the raids led to power outages in several regions, with the exact details yet to be disclosed. The Ukrainian state-run energy company Ukrenergo reported that thermal and hydroelectric power plants were among the structures damaged by the attack.

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko mentioned that Russian forces targeted 10 Ukrainian regions, resulting in injuries to at least six individuals. More than 150 rescue workers and 35 units of equipment have been mobilized to address the aftermath of the strikes across the country.

The Russian side has not responded to these allegations so far. The Ukrainian Air Force revealed that Russia used 39 missiles and 60 Shahed combat drones in their latest attack, with Ukrainian air defense intercepting a number of them successfully.

The situation remains tense as the damage to the energy infrastructure has caused disruptions in several regions. The impact of these strikes on the affected areas and the overall response to the crisis will be closely monitored in the coming days.
