Congress Manifesto for 2024 Elections: Empowering Women with Mahalakshmi, Ensuring MSP for Farmers, and Commitment to Abolish Agnipath Scheme.

The Congress party unveiled its manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, focusing on key promises for various segments of society. Highlights include the caste Census, restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, MSP guarantee on crops, and more. Described as ‘Nyay Patra’, the manifesto pledges to review anti-people laws and support media freedom.

One of the prominent features of the manifesto is the plan to conduct a nation-wide Socio-Economic and Caste Census to understand the socio-economic conditions of different castes. The party also aims to raise the cap on reservations for SC, ST, and OBCs, include a 10% reservation for Economically Weaker Sections, enhance the National Social Assistance Programme, and adopt the Rajasthan Model of healthcare insurance.

Additionally, the manifesto proposes providing apprenticeships to diploma holders and college graduates, sports scholarships for young athletes, making education compulsory and free up to Class XII, and introducing the Mahalakshmi scheme for women. It also promises to reserve 50% of Central government jobs for women, ensure a legal guarantee for MSP on crops, establish farmers’ retail markets, issue credit cards to fishing communities, and increase MGNREGA wages.

Other commitments in the manifesto include creating more jobs for Anganwadi workers, abolishing the Agnipath programme, easing tax burdens on MSMEs, revising GST laws, and granting full statehood to Puducherry. With these promises, the Congress party aims to address the needs of various sections of society and bring about significant changes if elected to power in the upcoming elections.
