Brother of SP leader fatally shot by ‘visitors’

Baghpat, Feb 29 (IANS) Mohammad Yusuf, brother of Samajwadi Party (SP) youth wing leader, Mohd. Kala, was shot dead in his office at Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat on Wednesday. The assailants opened fire at Yusuf while having tea with him, shooting him in the head and chest.

According to Kala, they had been alerted about the attack but couldn’t take any action in time. Two years ago, Yusuf was previously attacked near a brick kiln on Saroorpur Road. A case has been registered against unknown assailants, with no arrests made yet.

The assailants arrived on motorcycles and engaged in a conversation before carrying out the attack. Baghpat Assistant Superintendent of Police, Narendra Pratap Singh, mentioned that the victim’s relatives provided information about certain disputes. The investigation is ongoing from all possible angles.

“We were informed that two unidentified youth had committed the murder and fled the scene. During questioning, the victim’s relatives provided information about certain disputes. We are carrying out the investigation from all possible angles,” said Narendra Pratap Singh, Baghpat Assistant Superintendent of Police.
