DMK leader Kathir Anand to run for re-election in Vellore Lok Sabha constituency
The DMK has named D.M. Kathir Anand as its candidate for the Vellore Lok Sabha constituency in Tamil Nadu for the upcoming elections. Anand, son of party leader and Minister S. Duraimurugan, narrowly won the seat in 2019 by defeating AIADMK candidate A.C. Shanmugam.
In a closely contested battle, Anand secured victory in the 2019 bypoll after a significant amount of money meant for voter influence was seized in Thoothukudi. The AIADMK is yet to announce its candidate for the constituency, leaving the political landscape in Vellore intriguing.
The 49-year-old leader’s re-nomination underscores the DMK’s confidence in his ability to retain the seat amidst tough competition. With the election date drawing closer, all eyes are on Vellore to witness another fiercely contested battle between the two political parties.
As the election campaign ramps up, both the DMK and AIADMK are expected to intensify their efforts to sway voters in Vellore. The choice of candidates and the issues they address will play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the election in this key constituency in Tamil Nadu.
