EAM Jaishankar praises Malaysian PM’s vision for enhanced bilateral relations

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, discussing a vision to enhance India-Malaysia ties. Jaishankar conveyed PM Modi’s greetings and expressed gratitude for PM Ibrahim’s guidance on regional matters. Earlier, Jaishankar held talks with Malaysian Foreign Minister Haji Hasan on various areas of collaboration and shared perspectives on global issues.

During the meeting, EAM Jaishankar and Malaysian Foreign Minister Haji Hasan discussed enhancing cooperation in political, economic, defense, digital, startups, consular, and people-to-people linkages. They also exchanged views on regional issues like Indo-Pacific, West Asia, and Ukraine, aiming to strengthen their engagements as they approach the completion of a decade of Enhanced Strategic Partnership.

India and Malaysia share a strong economic partnership and close people-to-people ties, with India being Malaysia’s 12th largest global trading partner in 2023. The meeting between the two leaders emphasized the importance of further enhancing their relationship and cooperation in various sectors.
