President Zardari addresses Kashmir issue

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari raised the Kashmir issue during his Pakistan Resolution Day address, condemning Indian occupation and human rights violations. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to support Kashmir’s struggle for self-determination, emphasizing the need for peace in South Asia as per UN resolutions.

The day began with gun salutes and a grand military parade, including participation from Gilgit-Baltistan scouts for the first time. Zardari also urged political parties to resolve internal disputes through dialogue for the nation’s progress. He addressed the threat of terrorism, emphasizing Pakistan’s desire for peace without compromising sovereignty.

Dignitaries from Saudi Arabia, China, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and others attended the parade, highlighting Pakistan’s efforts to bring attention to the Kashmir issue on an international platform. Despite these efforts, global intervention remains elusive, with calls for dialogue between India and Pakistan to resolve the dispute.

While Zardari expressed optimism in overcoming economic challenges, concerns linger over the government’s ability to handle them effectively. Some speculate that economic matters may fall under the control of the powerful military establishment, posing additional challenges for the nation’s progression.
