Four-year-old sexually assaulted in Pandav Nagar, accused arrested, police to seek fast track trial from HC (2nd Lead)
A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 34-year-old tuition teacher in east Delhi’s Pandav Nagar, leading to protests and vandalism in the area. The accused, identified as Armaan, has been arrested, with police requesting the case be assigned to a fast-track court for expedited justice.
Following the incident, a large police contingent was deployed in the area to maintain law and order as protests erupted outside the accused’s house. Delhi Police stated that they acted promptly upon receiving information, registering a case under Sections 4/6 POCSO Act and 376 of the IPC.
The victim has been provided medical assistance at AIIMS, New Delhi, and is undergoing counseling to recover from the trauma. Senior police officials have assured that a team of experienced investigators is working on the case, with plans to appoint a Special Prosecutor for a robust case presentation in court.
Delhi Minister Atishi and BJP President Virendra Sachdeva have condemned the incident, urging swift and strong action against the perpetrators. Atishi wrote to Lt Governor V.K. Saxena, emphasizing the need for a safer Delhi, while Sachdeva demanded immediate action in response to the rape of a minor in Pandav Nagar.
