LSG posts 181/5 against RCB with Quinton de Kock scoring 81 and Pooran hitting 40 off 21 in IPL 2024

Bengaluru, April 2 (IANS) – Opener Quinton de Kock’s explosive 81-run innings set the tone for Lucknow Super Giants, but Royal Challengers Bangalore made a comeback in the death overs to restrict them in Match 15 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday.

De Kock was on fire from the get-go, forming crucial partnerships with K.L Rahul and Marcus Stoinis before Glenn Maxwell led the RCB bowling attack to limit LSG. As a result, the Lucknow team set a target of 182 runs for RCB to chase.

LSG’s strong start was highlighted by de Kock’s aggressive batting alongside Rahul, followed by explosive hitting by Nicholas Pooran towards the end. Despite the late flourish, RCB managed to keep the scoring in check, with Maxwell shining with 2-23 off his four overs.

De Kock’s powerful innings, which saw him smash eight boundaries and five sixes, came to an end at 81 off 56 balls. His partnership with Stoinis helped LSG cross the 100-run mark, but RCB’s strategic bowling changes proved effective in the death overs.

Pooran’s late blitzkrieg added valuable runs to LSG’s total, pushing them to 181/5 in their 20 overs. RCB now faces the challenge of chasing down the target of 182 in their home conditions at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to secure their second win of the season.
