Twitter is currently in a frenzy as the recent news of the Youtooz, a Canada-based collectibles company collaborating with Jschlatt, a popular YouTube personality, has sent shockwaves among netizens.
For those unfamiliar, the trend of ‘What did Schlatt do’ originated from Jschlatt himself, as he mentioned in one of his YouTube videos that he murdered seven women and three children back in 1999. However, there’s no concrete evidence of this occurring, and it is considered just a joke by the YouTuber’s followers.
Why is ‘What did Schlatt do’ trending?
On January 23, Youtooz, a prominent plush-making company, announced on their official Twitter account that they would be collaborating with the YouTuber to announce a giveaway. Participants have to answer the tweet with a line, “WHAT DID SCHLATT DO.” The company further added, that the winner will be announced on January 24, 3 p.m. EST, and will receive a plush rendition.
Also, a part of a giveaway where fans will have an opportunity to win plush toys, including “Yassified & Fisherman rammie” or “Cottagecore rammie.” As the news started to gain momentum in the media, it promoted a backlash from the public as the company is known as an “Israel-affirming corporation.” Despite offering a massive giveaway, the goodwill of the company has been going downhill since then.
With the recent Israel-Hamas conflict, many Israel-affirming companies are having a hard time operating in the market and maintaining a reputation in front of the public. Currently, not much information is available related to the company’s support towards Israel.
